Uniprotein® can replace up to 50% of the fishmeal in gilthead seabream feed with no loss in growth or feed efficiency. A new 96-day feeding trial by IRTA confirms it.
Researchers ran the trial on gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata), the Mediterranean's most farmed fish. It's the first full evaluation of Uniprotein® in a warm-water species, and the first holistic evaluation of Methylococcus capsulatus, assessing growth, digestibility, gut health, immunity and antioxidant response together.
Beyond matching fishmeal on growth and digestibility, Uniprotein® supported a healthier gut, shifting the microbiota toward beneficial bacteria and away from potential pathogens, with antioxidant defences holding at baseline.
Inclusion of Uniprotein® in seabream feed is a real, proven route to cut reliance on marine raw materials without trading off performance, replacing half the fishmeal, including premium Super Prime grade, at just 8.5% inclusion in the feed.
